Quick answer
North Frontenac does not require licensing specific to short-term accommodations. It runs its own campsites, publishes burn status online and sits in Fisheries Management Zone 18.
Things to do
The Township’s Things to Do pages cover fishing and hunting, sports and recreation, outdoor safety, the North Frontenac Astronomy Park, the 4 Seasons Scenic Route, and flora and fauna. The Township’s 2026 Visitor Guide is a PDF on its site. We did not read it for this guide, so we do not list its launches or beaches.
North Frontenac Parklands. The Township describes 174 campsites interspersed around 11 lakes. The lakes are not named on the page we read. The Parklands run their own website.
Fishing
The Township says North Frontenac is in Zone 18. It says many North Frontenac lakes are in Fish ON-Line, which lists fish types and stocking information. It names two licence sellers in Cloyne: Bishop Lake Outdoors at 13621 Highway 41 and Smart’s Marina at 1018 Smart Road. Most anglers need an Outdoors Card and a fishing licence. Read the Zone 18 page of the Ontario Fishing Regulations Summary for seasons and limits.
Fire and burn rules
The Township publishes a current burn ban status and fire index. When we checked on November 3 2026 the municipal burn ban was off, and fire danger was moderate. That can change daily, so check the page and the Fire Ban Info Line, 613-479-0399. The Township says to see its Open Air Burn By-law (#53-19) for permits, fees and hours. The Ministry’s Forest Fire Info Map shows where a Restricted Fire Zone applies. To report someone ignoring a municipal burn ban, call 911. To report a Restricted Fire Zone breach, call 1-877-847-7667.
Short-term accommodation
The Township says it does not require licensing specific to short-term accommodations and does not regulate or prohibit them. The same page lists the Township by-laws that still apply to a rental: open-air fires, including campfires and fireworks; a Noise and Public Nuisances By-law; and parking on public streets. It sends septic questions to the Building Department and tells operators to contact KFL&A Public Health before opening. Check the Township’s page before you list.
Services
The home page lists a Waste and Recycling page and community halls with an events calendar, but gives no site locations or hours. We did not confirm a hospital for North Frontenac in this guide. See Bancroft hospital and essentials for hospitals in the Bancroft area.
Road notice
The Township posted a closure of Road 506 for a culvert replacement, about 500 m east of Fernleigh, from 6:00 AM on Tuesday, November 10, 2026, with a reopening due by 6:00 PM on Wednesday, November 11, 2026. The Township says construction runs November 9 to no later than November 20, weather dependent. Check the Township page for updates.
