Parks and beaches
- Clan Gregor Square, 6 The Square: the entrance to Bayfield’s historic main street. It has play equipment, a gazebo, accessible washrooms, a splash pad and parking.[6]
- Pioneer Park, at Bayfield Terrace and Tuyll Street: open green space with trees, picnic benches, mulch walkways, a lookout and stairs down to a beach area. It connects to Bayfield Pier Beach.[7] The Municipality notes that Pioneer Park is owned and operated by the Pioneer Park Association, not the Municipality.[8]
- Pavilion Road Beach (formerly Houston Heights Beach): at the end of Pavilion Road, with a pavilion, washrooms, a walking trail and parking. The beach is reached only by the walking trail.[9]
- Bayfield River Flats: on the east side of Highway 21, beside the Bayfield River, with river views and access for paddlers, anglers and birders.[10]
- Bayfield Arena and Agriculture Park, 4 Jane Street: a pavilion, washrooms, a baseball diamond, sports fields and parking.[11]
The Municipality’s page does not give dog rules or marina details, and it links to a separate Village of Bayfield Marina page. Check those pages directly, and confirm parking rules at each park before you leave a car.[12] If you are staying in a cottage, ask the host which beach access they use, since Pavilion Road Beach is reached only on foot by the trail.

History and the archives
The Bayfield Historical Society was founded in 1965 and incorporated in 1976 as a registered charity. It is the only historical society in Huron County with a dedicated space for preserving historical records.[14] Its Archives & Heritage Centre is at 20 Main Street North, next to the public library, and holds photographs, maps, newspaper clippings, prints, books and textiles.[15] In summer (the page gives June 25 2025 through Labour Day) it is open Wednesday to Sunday, 10 am to 4:30 pm. The rest of the year it is by appointment only.[16] Confirm the 2027 summer dates with the Society before you visit. The Society’s Bayfield Story Project marks the 150th anniversary of the village’s incorporation.[17] We have not summarised the village’s earlier history because we did not confirm it on a primary source.
