Burn rules
Greater Madawaska (Calabogie). A permit is required for all open-air burning except campfires, and the property owner must apply. Fees are $50 a year, $25 a month, $5 a day and $25 a year for a barrel or incinerator. Daytime burning is not allowed from April 1 to October 31. Call 613-752-2296.
Madawaska Valley. The Township’s home page links a Current Fire Status page under Emergency Services. We did not read the rules themselves.
Garbage and recycling
Madawaska Valley runs one disposal site at Bark Lake (21956 Highway 60) and two transfer sites, Combermere (242 Old Barry’s Bay Road) and Wilno (17961 Highway 60). Every bag needs a blue municipal garbage tag. See Barry’s Bay and Madawaska Valley for hours. Greater Madawaska publishes a Garbage and Recycling page. We did not read its hours.
Groceries and the LCBO
Use the LCBO store locator and The Beer Store locator. Calabogie lists Charbonneau’s Grocery (699 Mill Street) and The Bogie General Store (4709 Calabogie Road) as places that sell paper boat-launch parking permits.
